Report cards, wellness checks, digging for worms and other assorted news

It's been a pretty full week for everyone, it seems. Am I right? It seems almost everyone I know has had a lot going on lately. Moving, travel plans, hectic work schedules, career/life transitions, etc. Maybe this upcoming week, things will slow down. Let's hope so.

Before the rains hit us, Madison and her friends were very busy outside digging for worms and making mudpies. This is very serious work that went on for days. Of course, the rain halted their adventures. Hopefully, they can resume digging this weekend (pics below). In other Maddie news, she got her report card yesterday. She got an A in Math (the only subject to get a letter grade). The rest of the subjects were either Satisfactory (S) or Exceeds expectations (E). We're very proud of her.

Kamryn is growing. She is now 10 lbs and is 22.5 inches long. She's 90% for height and 75% for weight. She also seems more alert and more aware of her surroundings. She's voicing her opinions at such an early age (see pic below). We're proud of her, too.

On a sad note, we will be losing a family member tomorrow. Hasek, our German Shepherd has not been doing well. He has trouble walking, sitting, climbing steps, etc. He's got the hereditary hip issue that most shepherds get and the vet says it will only get worse. They have recommended we put him to rest. We kind of knew this was coming, but you're never really prepared emotionally. He hasn't been quite himself the past year or so, so we know this is for the best. It's still a hard thing to deal with. We're all going through a wide assortment of emotions.

Hey DiPillia family...wanted to drop a line and let you know that we got your email with the link to this awesome blog! I hope everything is going smoothly. It was awesome seeing everyone and even getting to let loose a little. We received out items from san diego thursday, so our home is as disfunctional as it gets...not that we are rushing to empty all the boxes either (lazy asses we are!!). Hope that you guys will be able to visit when spring break or summer rolls around. We are planning to head up to NJ at the end of March (or in April)...hope we can have a cuddy night.

Love the Whelan Clan (Ken, Dina, Jasmine, & Jax)
